该品种幼树较直立,成年树半开张,树冠半圆头形,红肉蜜柚的花多为总状花序或穗状花序,花序带叶或不带叶,以无叶花序居多,亦有少数是生于结果母枝叶腋或顶端的单花.每花序的花量一般1-20朵.单果重1200克~2350克,平均1680克;皮色黄绿色;果肩圆尖,偏斜一边;果顶广平、微凹、环状圆印不够明显与完整;果面因油胞较突,手感较粗;皮薄,平均厚0.7㎝~0.9㎝。囊瓣数13~17瓣,有裂瓣现象,裂瓣率54%,囊皮粉红色;汁胞红色,果汁丰富,风味酸甜,品质上等。果肉为淡紫红色,果实物质含量总糖8.76%,总酸0.74%、维生素C37.85mg/100g、可溶性固形物11.55%、果汁率59%,汁胞呈色色素为番茄红素和β胡萝卜素,分别为:55.45 ± 1.13和41.10 ± 2.24(μg/g·dw),是琯溪蜜柚的55倍和46.8倍。
